Description

This is an early 1817 indenture deed document on Vellum parchment for land and buildings in Bristol Township, County of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  The document measures about 31 inches wide by about 18 inches high at the center and folds up nicely to about 9 inches high by 8 inches wide.  It has a nice wavy cut top border security feature as shown. Its beautifully and legibly hand written on old vellum parchment.  Its for 4 acres 51 perches of land and buildings in Bristol Township in the County of Philadelphia. The property is going from Thomas Shoemaker and Eli Berrell (Administrators) to John Hinkle (Innkeeper) who paid the large sum of 75.   From the document, you can tell that the property was actually owned by William Reece (Innkeeper) who apparently died. There is reference to an orphan's court in the document as well as an official seal from the orphan's court.  The document further states that the Administrators are selling the land and buildings "for the payment of the debts and maintenance of the minor children of the Intestate".  An interesting and historical document in excellent condition considering its age.  No major tears or holes whatsoever; just a couple of tiny pinholes.  Nice handwritten document and signatures including a top border security feature and several official seals.  Overall, a wonderful early document on vellum parchment from 1817.  Fast 1 day shipping.  Low opening bid.
