Beautiful old indenture of 1864 in West Newton, Westmoreland County PA.
Concerns the transfer of 212 acres from Shepard B. Markle to Thomas H. Allison for ,000,

Markle was from a family in the paper mill business and very well known (and well off) in West Newton.
Allison was a physician from Washington County PA.
I am sure those familiar with West Newton will know the Markle name,
and may be able to pinpoint the exact location of the land when reviewing the document.
This is an
ORIGINAL
document.
Dated December 3, 1864.
Has all the necessary signatures and seals, and of course the incredible legalese of the 19th century.
I have taken several photographs of the document for your review.
Several other names are mentioned in the history of the land, going back many, many years.
Let's not forget the original revenue stamps that are still intact, including a great
.00 Washington stamp!
The condition of this document is surprisingly good. There is some separation starting at the folds.
Some minor border wear and smudges, and some slight discoloration, but considering the age of this document, it remains in VG condition.
When fully opened we have a measurement of 22 x 17 and would be perfect to frame.
