    Description

The order of the black eagle is the highest order of knights in the kingdom of Prussia. It was established by elector Frederick III (later Frederick I) on January 17, 1701 and revised in 1847. To be sure, the Black Hawk is William II's favorite medal.
The Knights of the Black Hawk are limited to a few knights and are divided into two levels: the members of the ruler family (further divided into the hohenzoran family and other family members, including German and foreign members) and the capitular knights. Before 1847, it was limited to aristocracy, and then the non aristocratic headknight was promoted to the aristocracy (Adelstein). The headknight is usually a senior government official or officer.
