of the Prussian / German Imperial Iron Cross First Class (1914) of WWI.
This is a vaulted version of the medal, a style preferred by many “flying aces” during the war.  These medals were “private purchase” items, hand-crafted by skilled jewelers.  You will not be disappointed.
Please take note of the sturdy flat pin. Such a pin would be fed through two vertical loops sewn onto the tunic by a tailor.
