Rare Antique Meiji Japanese Uchikake BridalKimono w/ Embroidered Cranes & Tortoises
For your consideration is this antique Japanese uchikake from the Meiji Period which extended from October 1868 to July 1912. This collector's item is definitely a rare find! Embroidered cranes fly over the three auspicious symbols of the Japanese New Year. Pine represents strength, bamboo stands for longevity, and plum blossoms represent beauty and optimism. All three together symbolize resilience and perseverance. This uchikake also has intricate gold couching creating two tortoises, or "kame," representing wisdom, luck, protection, and longevity due to their long life spans. Three mons are found on the front of this masterpiece, which is in excellent condition for its age. Both interior lining and exterior shell are made of 100% fine Japanese silk. This kimono would make an incredible display and would be an asset to anyone who owns it. (R1428/269)
