March 9, 1857 Gadsden County Florida - Last Will & Testament ~ Man leaves 10 named Slaves to wife and  father

the name of God, amen. I James B. Morrison of the county of Henry in the state of Alabama being of sound mind but weak in body do make publish and declare this my last will and testament herby revoking all others. After payment of all my debts I wish my property disposed of in the following manner - I do give and bequeath to beloved father Richard J Morrison the following named Neg..s  Patty aged about sixty Candis aged about Thirty-Five Ned aged about 6 Luck aged about twenty-five years and Phoebe aged about eleven years in full satisfaction and discharge of said claim in order that my father may not sustain any loss on account of his parental kindness heretofor displayed towards me I give and bequeath therefore to her my beloved wife Martha Jane Morrison the following named Neg..s Betty aged about Fifty-Five Peter aged about fifty Nelly aged about thirty Opaline  aged about three years and Maria aged about four months, the two last being the children of Nelly"

Includes a March 19th 1857 signed letter of probate judge James M Gilchrist  (A former Major of the Florida Militia and veteran of the Seminole Indian War). Includes a court probate Gadsden County Seal and large state of Florida seal. Signed by Secretary of State  Benjamin H Allen.
