    Description

This is a unique and rare hand beaded set of Wedding Jewelry.
I am by no means an expert on Apache Beaded Jewelry,
so I am basing this on research.  Let me start with the necklaces.  There are 2.  One for the male, longer length and no fringe.  The other is for the woman, shorter length and it has beaded work hanging at the bottom.  Colors are turquoise and white beads.  There are matching clip earrings also.Pieces are made of white and turquoise beads. The backing is a soft flannel (I believe)
Mens necklace is 19-1/2" long and the medallion measures 3" round.  The womans necklace measures 17-3/4" long, including the added beadwork on the bottom.
Bought at an estate sale, it still has the original price tag on it.  This was sent to the homeowner and his wife in the 70's.  Also in the box was a short note about where it "supposedly" came from.
The note says "This 6 piece set is all hand made by the Apache Indians from the San Cablos Apache Indian Reservation in Geronimo, AZ.  This is a collectors item and is a his and her set.  Legend has it that the Apache Brave presented this to the Indian Maiden before they were Betrothed." I do not know the age, however, all paperwork is yellowed, and it is very unusual to find this detail in current hand beading. The backing of all the pieces is authentic to how the Apache finished their work.  Hand stitching.
This truly is a wonderful piece.  I wish I could give more provenance, but I know there are experts out there who will appreciate this work.  Let me know if you have any more information on these pieces, as I'd love to learn more.
