WWI ITALY BATTLE OF VITTORIO VENETO VAL D' ASSA 1918 ORIGINAL LARGE PHOTO

Description

The Battle of Vittorio Veneto, October,  in the mountains of NE Italy was the climax victories of the Allies, destroying the Austro-Hungarian Army as an effective force with 350,000 Austrian prisoners  and forcing the Austrians to sue for peace. The Allied Armies under General Armando Diaz included Italian, English, and French Divisions as well as some American and Czech units. An Original 1918 large 17 x 14" poster photo of the victorious Italian troops on the march in the Val D' Assa, November, 1918 following the Battle. Today The rugged and pristine Val D Assa is also famous for it's unique flora and fauna, mountain hiking trails, monuments to Italy's unsung heros  and a popular tourist destination. The photo is approx 17 x 14" with glossy finish, the lower corner bears an "Underwood & Underwood NY from Elliott Service Co, NY" imprint. The reverse has a small  applied archive stamp with inked number from the Era, and an original separate paper label describing the Scene, w copyright by Underwood & Underwood and Elliott News Services , New York . Edge wear, age spots, corners chipped, Overall VG These original 1918 poster size images were displayed across the US where  US Liberty War Bonds were sold and at  Military Recruiting Stations and Army Posts etc. Shipped in an archival safe protective 20 x 17" rigid sleeve.
