    Original era manufacture. Nice quality enameled bronze badge with a pin back reverse. measures 28 x 32 mm. No damage....
    This badge from 1919 In 1919 a special decree was issued in Italy was announced to distinguish orphans of the Great War with this pin badge, and these children were to be put up for adoption before others. The badge features a wonderful design of a woman embracing a young boy, who is holding a symbolic Roman sword. I think it is made from bronze and features a green enamelled laurel around the outer rim. It is marked ORFANO DI GUERRA ~ Orphans Of War ~ and has the makers marks for F.M. LORIOLI & CASTELLI, MILANO to the reverse, and was designed by C. Rivalta.
